6 reactions to Trump's order barring men from women's sports: 'Sex is real and matters'

Carl Charles, a senior attorney at the LGBT advocacy group Lambda Legal, accused the Trump administration of trying to “hurt and exclude” trans-identifying individuals. The legal group is known for having challenged state-level bans against athletes competing on teams that do not align with their sex.
“Not content to try to ban transgender military service members from serving their country, and to try to block transgender youth from receiving essential and scientifically-proven health care, and to deny transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people access to accurate identity documents, and to try their hardest to erase the existence of LGBTQ+ people from school curricula and the American workplace, today President Trump takes aim at K-12 and college athletes,” Charles said in a statement.
The LGBT advocate claimed that the number of trans-identifying athletes competing as the opposite sex is a “vanishingly small subset of people” outside of what the lawyer described as “a few sensationalized examples.”
